Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has raised concerns over lashing out at the Ministry of Health and the Cabinet Secretary for holding 2027 power talks while the Linda Mama health service is quickly dwindling.
The Githunguri Constituency legislature took to her official X account on Monday, September 29, 2025, where she criticised other leaders for screaming 2027 politics while critical conversations are sidelined.
According to Wamuchomba, leaders should come out and sharply criticise the fall of the Linda Mama health service, where several mothers are often at risk during childbirth.
“Any leader who comes screaming about the 2027 power formula share and doesn’t care about LINDA mama is hogwash! All we care about is, out of the 4,219 babies born in Kenya daily, how many survive? How many mothers are at risk? That’s the true work of opposition,” Wamuchomba said.
While lashing out at the criticism, Wamuchomba firmly accused Duale of being selfish and greedy with politics.
On her part, she also accused the Head of State, William Ruto, of failing to show remorse and care for the Social Health Insurance amid several scandals recently listed out.
“Appearing on Sunday to lecture us on who is uniting with whom for the 2027 elections is SELFISH and greed for the political class. SHA has failed, and RUTO doesn’t care; all we need NOW is a solution, not lectures. That’s my opinion,” Wamuchomba added.

Matenal deaths in Kenya
Her remarks follow a recent report by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, where he vowed urgent government action to end preventable maternal deaths in Kenya, declaring that the trend will not be tolerated under his watch.
In a statement on Saturday, September 27, 2025, through his X page, Duale described the high mortality rates in some counties as unacceptable and promised a comprehensive response.
His remarks came after Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Deputy Secretary General Dennis Miskellah raised concerns about Wajir County, where maternal deaths are almost five times the national average.
At the time, Duale added that the ministry will not allow cultural barriers, such as delayed consent for emergency procedures, to continue costing mothers their lives
