Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has cautioned Kenyans to watch out for the ongoing political developments in the country.

According to Salasya, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party faction led by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is working for a different entity.

The lawmaker stated that the trio are targeting undecided Kenyans and those keen on change who have so far eluded the firm grip of President William Ruto as he eyes a second term in office.

Hii net ya Sifuna, Babu na Orengo ni ya kunasa the very undecided and so many Kenyans who want change na wenye hawataki kunaswa na Ruto. Wametumwa na number one kukuchanganya — eventually watakupeleka kwake. Watch out, my good people,” Salasya wrote in a statement on his social media accounts on Monday, February 9, 2026.

This loosely translates to: “This net by Sifuna, Babu and Orengo is to catch the many undecided Kenyans, those who want change and those who have evaded Ruto. They have been sent by number one to confuse voters and will eventually lead their supporters to him. Watch out, my good people.”

Salasya’s criticism

Salasya has been a critic of the current administration, digging into President William Ruto’s government.

He recently outlined his vision for Kenya while also advising the youth on the 2027 elections in a statement made on his X account on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

The MP stated that both one-term and two-term narratives have failed Kenyans, as they have not provided solutions to the challenges facing the country.

“Hunger has no term limit. Unemployment has no term limit. Pain has no term limit. Kenya does not need noise; Kenya needs solutions. The obsession with political survival instead of people’s survival is exactly what has brought us here,” Salasya wrote.

The lawmaker confirmed that he does not subscribe to either of the two major political formations rooting for President William Ruto’s reelection or exit at the ballot while explaining his position.

“As Hon. Peter Kalerwa Salasya, I do not subscribe to slogans of one term or two terms.  I do not worship political cycles. I stand for the well-being of Kenyans. And the hard truth is this: both narratives are failing the Kenyan people,” he added.

He conveyed his hope that the current political landscape will give way to a new one that is tribeless and based on issues.

“This country does not belong to political dynasties, tribal brokers, or recycled elites; it belongs to the people, and especially to the young generation.

“We must build a tribeless, issue-based Kenya, united by justice, opportunity, and development, not fear, slogans, or ethnic arithmetic. The future will not be given. It must be taken lawfully, boldly, and responsibly,” he added.
