A school watchman at the Bridge International School Likoni has been charged with the offence of defiling a five-year-old minor.
48-year-old Ali Mohammed Choco, who appeared before Mombasa chief magistrate, Martha Mutuku pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court heard that on August 9 this year, the mother of the victim reported at Inuka Police Station that her daughter, who is a pp2 student in the school, came home on August 4, 2023, smelling of faces and when she enquired from her why she had soiled her clothes she kept quiet.
The mother was forced to examine her on August 7 after the minor came home with her body producing an unusual odour.
The minor’s mother was forced to involve her neighbour who examined her private parts. Upon examining her the duo discovered that the minor had been defiled on several occasions.
Police investigations indicate that the suspect would lure the minor and defile her after classes inside his resting room within the school’s compound.
The charges were that, on diverse dates between April 1, 2022, and 9 2023 at the Vyemani area in Likoni sub-county within Mombasa county unlawfully and intentionally defiled a minor aged five years.
He was slapped with a second count of, committing an indecent Act with a child.
The particulars being that on diverse dates between April 1, 2022, and August 9 this year in the Vyemani area in the Likoni sub-county, unlawfully touched the minor private part.
The court ordered he be released on a bond of Ksh300,000 with one similar surety with an alternative of Ksh200,000 cash bail.
The matter will be mentioned on, August 23, 2023, for pretrial purposes.
