A watchman aged 46 years was killed and 18 motorcycles and 30 mobile phones stolen in a robbery with violence incident at a shop in Total area, Suna West, Migori County on Sunday night.
Migori county police commander Mark Wanjala said the body of the watchman identified as James was found lying in front of the broken shop with injuries.
Wanjala said their preliminary investigation has established that the deceased was attacked by an unknown gang.
He said the attackers also broke into the shop and stole 18 motorcycles and 30 mobile phones.
The county police commander said they are yet to identify the killers and have launched an investigation into the robbery with violence incident.
Wanjala has appealed to members of the public to help the police get the suspects involved in the robbery with violence incident.
He said the police have heightened night patrols in the region to deal with the cases of insecurity in the county.
