Safari Rally CEO Charles Gacheru has said that Kenya is well set and ready to host the 2024 competitions.
Gacheru said that the sports ministry has for the last one month been focusing on the key things that will make the rally successful.
He said they also counter-checked on the routes to be used during the rally including Soysambu, Elementaita among others.
“We’ve been today to the service park and we’ve made sure that the things participants will use to make themselves comfortable and operational have arrived in Kenya,” he said.
“In terms of preparedness for this rally, we have all the documentation prepared, we have done the questionnaires for medical, questionnaires for safety plans, we have done the media safety books, we are ready for the rally, we have the insurance, we have all the license from KCAA,” he said.
Gacheru said radio communications will be used for communicating for safety and security during the event.
“We are working with Agencies from the Ministry of Transport, NTSA, KENHA due to traffic management, but the real big factor in traffic management is you and I that we should try and obey the traffic rules,” he said.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba said they have developed a good traffic plan to avoid the frustrations of the past.
‘We are asking all the fans/spectators to obey the traffic rules. If you want to have a great experience please obey the traffic rules,” he said
“Don’t drink and drive! If you are under age it is zero alcohol,”
Ababu said that the sports ministry will lead the event as it works closely with the Ministry of Interior on traffic control and immigration.
He also stated that the ministry will also team up with the Ministry of Trade to ensure that Kenya reaps the full economic benefits of the mega-global event.
” We are working with the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife to make sure that our sports tourism adds great value to tourism generally as an economic driver in this country,” he said.
