A 70-year-old man from Mbuguri village in Mbeere North Subcounty in Embu county, who has been living in a dilapidated condition in a privately owned forest, has finally received help from a well-wisher.

Findesio Ngari has been living in abject poverty for years after he was allegedly neglected by members of his family.

He has been living in a makeshift house in the forest often going to bed on an empty stomach due to lack of food.

Ngari’s well-wisher, Jacob Ireri alias Mbao, told K24 Digital that the septuagenarian has also been battling a health condition affecting his mobility.

Ireri, who has a hearing impairment, delivered food stuff and clothes to the elderly man and promised to build him a decent house.

He also pledged to help him seek treatment for his condition.

“This man here, whom I learned of his condition through social media, has been living in a pitiable condition, a very deplorable condition to live for all those years. We have brought food stuff and we shall build him a house,” Jacob said through his interpreter.

Ireri said he was moved by the plight of the man prompting him to visit him.

At the same time, he pleaded with privileged members of society to help the less fortunate.

Ngari could not hide her joy when the well-wisher who was accompanied by his friend convened at his place.

Ngari said despite making an application to benefit from a cash transfer programme for the elderly he was not successful.

Ngari narrated the ordeal he has been going through, especially during the rainy season.

“I have gone through hell for some years, actually my house has only one muddy wall as the other was brought down by rain,” he said.
