In Emuhaya, Vihiga County, police apprehended two suspected highway robbers. According to Emuhaya Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Chuck Musau, authorities recovered stolen wheat sheaves from the suspects’ residences.
Musau said that the suspects allegedly target trucks traveling on the Luanda-Busia highway. He explained their modus operandi: “They hang onto the moving vehicles before breaking into them. These two were just recently released from prison.”
Taking advantage of the poor road conditions between Mapacha and Ebuyangu, the suspects reportedly break padlocks to steal goods. During this incident, close to a ton of wheat spilled onto the road as the robbers accessed the truck.
Police discovered the stolen wheat hidden beneath a bed along with a claw bar, believed to be the tool used for breaking the padlocks. The suspects are awaiting arraignment after the investigation concludes.
