Kabras Sugar player John Kubu was yesterday named and dropped ahead of the Rugby Africa 7s taking place in Harare, Zimbabwe on September 16 and 17.
Kubu was named in a 36 man Shujaa provisional squad by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU). According to the KRU secretariat, Kubu was suspended for 11 matches after being found guilty of stamping during the just concluded Christies sevens last weekend in Nairobi.
Secretariat said he was mistakenly included in the provisional side, but had to be dropped because the union policy is that no suspended player can be considered for selection.
The provisional team now has 35 players expected to kick-off training soon.
The Rugby Africa sevens tournament will also serve as the African Qualification Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Shujaa have been grouped in Pool B alongside Zambia, Namibia and Nigeria.
Pool A features South Africa, Madagascar, Tunisia and Ivory Coast with Pool C comprising of Uganda, hosts Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and Algeria.
