Bidco United head coach Anthony ‘Vieira’ Akhulia is optimistic that his team will achieve better results in the upcoming season compared to the previous 2023/24 campaign. Last season, Bidco United finished 11th with 44 points, showing a notable improvement from their 2022/23 performance, where they earned 36 points.

“It’s always good to improve on your previous season. Our goal is to do better than last season, aiming for a top-five or top-ten finish in the league,” Akhulia stated. The Thika-based team has been diligently preparing during pre-season, competing against lower-division teams to refine their tactics.

With friendly matches scheduled against an NSL team and a Premier League club, Akhulia is confident in his squad’s readiness for the new season.

“We have played with teams from division one and below. Next week we will play a friendly game against a team from the NSL, then do one game against a team from the premier league and we will be ready for the season,” he added.

However, the departure of eight first-team players has left a gap in the squad and Akhulia has disclosed that they are still active in the transfer market, as he looks to bolster his team.

“Most players that I had from the previous season have left the team and we are currently in the market for replacements. We’ve identified promising talents from both lower divisions and the Premier League, and I’m hopeful we’ll be able to bring them on board,” he explained.

Akhulia has also remained cautious as he expects the competition in the league to be tougher this coming season, than the previous season.

“Most of the time the competitiveness of the league often hinges on newly promoted teams. The teams that were promoted are very good teams.
“This season, the newly promoted sides are strong, and the signings made by various teams are impressive. I anticipate a highly competitive league,” he warned.
Bidco will kick off their 2024/2025 campaign with a home match against Shabana FC on August 25, 2024.
