Woman arrested with 49 stolen phones in Kisumu

Police in Kisumu have arrested a suspected member of a phone theft syndicate with stolen gadgets.

The suspect identified as Janifer Imali,30, was nabbed on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at a residential house within Obunga area where 49 mobile phones and one laptop were recovered.

Police say preliminary investigations suggest that the phones had been stolen from the public.

According to Kisumu Central OCPD, Peter Mulai the suspect was arrested following a tip-off from members of the public.

This comes following the launch of a crackdown on criminal gangs by the Kisumu county commissioner.

“The suspect is set to be arraigned on Monday, August 28, 2023,” police said.
