A 38-year-old woman, Consolata Mueni Maingi, has been charged with creating a disturbance likely to cause a breach of peace, as per section 95 (1) (b) of the Penal Code. She allegedly made threats to bewitch and “transfer” her boyfriend’s lover’s genitals to her head.

The incident occurred at Kayole Junction in Njiru Sub County, Nairobi, on May 31, 2023. She is accused of uttering the words “nitakuronga nifanye sehemu yako ya siri ikunje kwa kichwa chako” to the complainant.

Ms Maingi, who works as a conductor for a public service vehicles (PSV) company, confronted the complainant, who is also a conductor with a similar company accusing her of having an affair with her boyfriend.

The accused person claimed that she had returned from a witch doctor in Tala in Machakos County and had witchcraft which could “transfer” the complainant’s private parts to the head while holding the other woman’s picture. Ms Maingi also threatened she could scald her with acid.

The complainant left the scene and proceeded to the Kayole Police Station, where she reported the incident.

During investigations, police established that Ms Maingi had been charged with a similar offense last year, where she was accused of creating disturbance to the same complainant who was accused of throwing rubbish on her doorstep. The earlier case is still pending at the Makadara Law Courts.

The two women’s colleagues who witnessed the incident recorded statements with the police and are listed as witnesses in the case against Ms Maingi.

Ms Maingi denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Irene Gichobi of Makadara Law Courts.

She was released on a bond of Sh20, 000 with a surety of a similar amount and an alternative cash bail of Sh10, 000. The case will be mentioned on August 17 before the trial starts on September 29.
