A woman aged 45 years old is detained at Kehancha police station after she was found in possession of bhang in Naora village, Kuria West Sub County.

Kuria West Sub-county Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the suspect was arrested after she was found in possession of 31 rolls of bhang wrapped in a waste newspaper and another 400 grams of unpacked bhang.

Kimaiyo said the suspect was arrested during a crackdown conducted by the police in the area.

The police boss said the suspect is in police custody waiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.

Kimaiyo said the fight against illicit brew, narcotics and unaccustomed goods is still underway in the region, warning those involved in the illegal business.

He appealed to the members of the public to come out and support the police in the fight against illicit brew in the region by sharing necessary information.

Kimaiyo said illicit brew has led to death of nine people in the region and therefore the members of the public must come out and protect the lives of their kin.
