A Nairobi High Court has jailed Pauline Kendi for six years for kidnapping a six-year-old girl in the Githogoro area of Westlands Sub-County, Nairobi County, on September 22, 2025.
Kendi was charged at the Milimani Law Courts on October 28, 2025, with kidnapping with intent to confine, contrary to Section 259 of the Penal Code.
“On September 22, 2025, in the Githogoro area, Westlands Sub-County, within Nairobi County, with intent to cause the minor, namely VW, aged six years, to be secretly and wrongfully confined, kidnapped the said VW,” part of the charge sheet read.
On the second charge, Kendi was charged with attempted extortion by demanding money with menaces, contrary to Section 300(1) of the Penal Code.
According to the particulars of the offence, Kendi, on September 23, 2025, at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, called the mother of the minor and demanded that she send her KSh300,000 for her child’s release.
Further, she threatened that she would continue holding the child if the demand was not met, adding that she would only release her upon receiving the exact amount.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina jailed Kendi on Friday, November 7, 2025, after the prosecution proved that she was guilty of kidnapping the minor.
For the offence of kidnapping, the court sentenced Kendi to six years, and for the second offence, she was sentenced to two years. However, the sentences will run concurrently.
“For the first offence (kidnapping), you have been jailed for six years, and for the second offence, you have been jailed for two years. Both will run concurrently since the two offences were committed at the same time,” Magistrate Onyina ruled.
The court also ruled that if not satisfied with the sentence, Kendi has the right to appeal within 14 days.
