On the other end of the call, the mother could be heard lovingly asking the daughter to go ahead with the news. In a TikTok video by @morynesiima, the young woman forewarned her followers against trying the prank on soft-hearted people.
The daughter informed her that she had fallen in love with a man who was ready and willing to pay a dowry and marry her. At first, the mother was enthusiastic about the news and asked for details about the suitor.
“His name is Fred, a retired engineer in Dar es Salaam,” she threw in the mischievous prank. “What do you mean retired?” the mother prodded. “Retired from active service. Simply put, he is an old man,” she asserted.
