Eliud Wekesa, the self-proclaimed ‘Yesu Wa Tongaren’, has now dismissed the call by a section of people pushing for his crucifixion during Good Friday saying his time has not yet come.

Speaking on Friday at his home town in Kakamega, Wekesa refuted the calls to have him crucified just like Jesus in the Bible, arguing that it is not yet the Easter holiday according to his faith which has it slated for July, and not April.

He went on to explain that the current period marked globally by Christians as a remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus did not fall in the same timeline in the Gregorian calendar as that of the Jews.

Hiyo ndiyo Pasaka ya Mwalimu Yesu (I have my Easter on July which we observe according to the teachings from the Book of Exodus 12: 21-28),” he said.

Nimewaonya wafuasi wangu kulingana na hii Pasaka (The Word says we should be cautious to avoid copying Western cultures; I have cautioned my followers in regard to this Easter.”

According to Wekesa, his remarks came after some people arrived at his home with a wooden cross and nails, ready to crucify him.

He said he was forced to use the Bible teachings to tell them off and admonish them for what he termed as blasphemy.

“Ata niliona mtu mmoja wa Kiislamu amebeba misumari akakuja nayo hapa; ikabidi nimwambie, ndugu mtu hafanyiwi dhiaka, chochote utapanda ndicho utavuna.”

At the same time, while citing Biblical teachings on the story of Noah and the floods, Wekesa cautioned those doubting his legitimacy comparing them to the people who also ridiculed Noah before they were destroyed by floods in the Bible.

He said some people have been accusing him of madness in his proclamation to be Jesus.
