A young woman is seeking help after discovering that a family had allegedly resold part of the land she bought in 2022.
Omosi Etsako purchased a 100-by-100 plot using money she saved from selling clothes online. She said she built up the funds gradually, saving Ksh 50 and KSh 97 at a time.
Her uncle had introduced her to the property. However, he only told her about the dispute in 2024, saying he had kept quiet because she was pregnant and did not want to cause her distress.
When Etsako asked for more information, her uncle reportedly explained that the family had sold part of the property again to raise money for repairs to their home.
The dispute escalates
After learning about the second sale, Etsako fenced the portion of the land that remained under her control.
She alleged that the other buyer later destroyed the fence and extended his activities onto her property.
Etsako said she tried to settle the matter peacefully. The family offered her another plot, but she claimed the replacement was undeveloped forest and that no clear plan had been given for its development.
The second buyer also reportedly approached her with an offer to purchase the remaining 50-by-100 section.
In a TikTok post, Etsako said she was unwilling to give up the land because it represented years of sacrifice.
“This is my sweat, my years of hard work that they are about to steal away from me,” she wrote.
The dispute has resonated with online audiences, including social media users in Kenya, where land ownership and property disputes remain relatable concerns for many families.
