Kenyan gospel deejay Karumba Ngatia, widely known as DJ Krowbar, has shared an emotional tribute in memory of his late wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, reflecting on the difficult journey they endured before her death.
In a heartfelt social media post on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the entertainer shared a video showing him seated beside his wife as she lay on a hospital bed during her final days. The touching clip offered followers a glimpse into one of the most painful moments the family experienced together.
Accompanying the video, DJ Krowbar expressed gratitude to God despite the heartbreaking loss, acknowledging that while they did everything they could to fight for her life, the outcome was beyond their control.
“We fought hard but God had other plans,” he wrote.
DJ Krowbar on navigating grief
DJ Krowbar has previously spoken about how his Christian faith helped him navigate the grief of losing his wife. Following her passing, he explained that trusting in God gave him the strength to keep going even during the darkest moments of his life.
He explained that his belief in God has been his strength during this difficult period.
Additionally, DJ Krowbar said he has had to accept a painful reality in life after losing his wife. He described the experience as deeply emotional but said his faith continues to guide him and added that his understanding of life and death is shaped by his Christian beliefs.
“There is a reality I have to accept ‘Death didn’t make my marriage ugly,’” DJ Krowbar said.
“In this Christian walk, death is our introduction to Christ. When we accept Christ, we are dying ourselves for his sake (His will over our lives).”
He also reflected on the life he shared with his late wife. He said he is grateful for the marriage they had and the time they spent together. He added that he deeply misses her and honours her memory.
“In my wife’s case, I honour the Lord for what he gifted me (a really good marriage) for the time He allowed. I loved this girl, and I deeply, deeply miss her,” DJ Krowbar said.
DJ Krowbar had earlier explained that his wife played a strong role in his life and supported him in many ways.
