Omar Marmoush believes Tottenham Hotspur can use their first Premier League victory of the season as a turning point after finally ending their difficult start to the campaign.
The Egyptian forward scored his first goal for the club as Tottenham defeated Coventry City 3-1 on Monday night, October 19, 2026, a result that lifted Roberto De Zerbi’s side from the bottom of the table to 16th.
Marmoush, who joined Tottenham on loan from Manchester City, put the hosts back in front in the 58th minute after Jack Rudoni had cancelled out James Maddison’s early opener.
Ben Davies then sealed the victory in stoppage time to give Tottenham their first league win after three draws and three defeats.
Marmoush celebrates first Tottenham goal
The 27-year-old was pleased to get off the mark for his new club but insisted the three points were more important than his individual achievement.

Speaking after the match, Marmoush said: “We are so, so happy. We have had good performances in that last week but haven’t got the end result of a win. Very happy to win our first game today also happy to score my first goal for Tottenham. We will build on this.”
The former Manchester City attacker added: “I am very happy it paid off but I am more happy for the three points we got today.”
Tottenham had made a bright start, with Maddison opening the scoring after 14 minutes by finishing from Mohammed Kudus’ delivery against his former club.
Dominic Solanke appeared to have doubled the advantage later in the half, only for his effort to be ruled out.
Coventry fought back after the interval, with Rudoni taking advantage of a mistake involving Jan Paul van Hecke to restore parity.
Marmoush responded quickly, however, before Davies’ late goal ensured Tottenham completed the comeback.
Egyptian forward sees room for improvement
Marmoush believes Tottenham’s performances have offered reasons for optimism despite their poor results in the opening weeks.
Reflecting on the team’s progress, he said: “I mean every game we learn. As you said we’ve played amazing in the first few weeks but the result wasn’t there. It is just the beginning.”
The victory was also significant because Dejan Kulusevski returned to action after missing the whole of last season with a serious knee injury.
Marmoush acknowledged the quality of Coventry and explained how Tottenham managed to secure the result.
“They’re a very good team, good on transitions. Ben’s goal got us the three points and got the game to clam down.”
Marmoush backs De Zerbi’s approach
The forward also praised De Zerbi for the influence he has had on the Tottenham squad and said the players remain committed to the manager’s methods.

“Yeah I feel amazing. With the coach, he helps us all and teaches us small details. He also helps us on a personal basis. I love the intensity and passion that he brings. We believe in the system that we play in. On the pitch we are like a big family and we will fight for each other until the end.”
Tottenham will now look to carry the momentum into their next league fixture when they travel to face Chelsea on October 24, 2026.
Coventry, meanwhile, will attempt to recover when they host Fulham on the same day.
