Terry Ray Krieger, a suspected paedophile of American origin is in court yet again, on accusations of defiling a 3-year-old girl at Great Wall Gardens in Athi River this month.
Ray was arrested on November 9, and thereafter arraigned at Mavoko Law Courts on November 10, 2023. He took plea and was detained.
Today, November 21, he appeared before court, where trial magistrate Barbra Ojoo denied him bail.
Ojoo said Ray is a fugitive of justice, which is a compelling reason to deny him bail. She also noted that the accused’s previous criminal records and gravity carry reasonable terms upwards of five years.
Court dismissed the defense argument that he is an elderly man who requires urgent medical care saying there is no evidence supplied to court to show he is ill.
Ray, who was arraigned on November 10 at Mavoko Law Courts pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault and being in the country illegally.
The case will be mentioned on November 27 in preparation for a hearing.
The accused had earlier been convicted for paedophilia, and sentenced to a 50-year jail term in December 2, 2014, after he was found guilty of taking and circulating videos of minors in nude and compromising positions.
In November 2022, Ray, who had been serving his sentence at the Kamiti GK Prison was set free by Justice J.M Bwonong’a.
“In these circumstances, this court finds that to order a re-trial of the appellant would not only be unfair but oppressive as well* ruled Justice Bwonwong’a as he set the American national free.
Ray was jailed after admitting to circulating obscene images of Kenyan underage children using electronic media between May 2013 and October 2014.
