Detectives investigating the murder of Victoria Muloki, a Mombasa-based taxi driver who was abducted and killed, have uncovered significant details about the criminal record of the main suspect, Edwin Ng’etich. Police have linked Ng’etich to several other murders across the country, indicating a potential pattern of serial killings.
One of the murders took place in July 2024, when Ng’etich allegedly hired another taxi driver, George Njuguna, before killing him, disposing of his body, and stealing his vehicle. Detectives believe Ng’etich lured Njuguna into a car hire agreement, driving him from Kisii to Nairobi. However, somewhere in Gilgil, Ng’etich is suspected of abducting and murdering Njuguna, dumping his body, and fleeing with the vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was later sold to a third party in Nakuru, and authorities have since recovered it. Another vehicle tied to the suspect was found in Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County. According to investigators, Ng’etich led police to the location of this vehicle. The whereabouts of the original owner of the car are still unknown, and detectives suspect that Ng’etich could be part of a group targeting taxi drivers, killing them, and stealing their vehicles.
An autopsy of Victoria Muloki’s body is expected to take place on Monday. She had accepted a ride request from Ng’etich from Mombasa to Samburu, but her body was found three days later in a thicket in Lari, Kiambu. Ng’etich was arrested in Nakuru while driving Muloki’s vehicle.
