Adele has made it clear that hateful comments will not be tolerated at her concerts. Over the weekend, the Grammy-winning artist responded firmly to an audience member who shouted “Pride sucks” during her performance. In a video posted on social media, Adele can be seen delivering a profanity-laced rebuttal, standing up for the annual event that recognizes and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community.
“Excuse me, did you come to my f***ing show and just say that ‘Pride sucks’?” Adele said, appearing immediately aggravated by the outburst. “Are you f***ing stupid? Don’t be so f***ing ridiculous.”
The crowd cheered and applauded Adele as she continued to address the heckler, telling them, “If you have nothing nice to say, shut up. Alright?” Pride Month, celebrated annually in June, is a time when LGBTQ+ communities worldwide come together to celebrate the freedom to be themselves.
It is not known whether the audience member who shouted stayed for the rest of the concert.
Adele is known for her interactions with the audience during her Las Vegas residency concerts. Last year, she reprimanded a security guard for “bothering” a fan and requested that both the security team and those seated near the fan, who were seemingly complaining about him, “leave him alone.”
“Weekends with Adele” began in 2021. The singer will take a break from her Las Vegas show in August to perform a special “Adele in Munich” concert series in Germany. She will return to North America to conclude her residency in November.
