The circumstances surrounding the death of Pastor Moses Mugwika, a 50-year-old evangelist from the Full Gospel Church, Nchaure branch, are being investigated by the police. Pastor Mugwika had gone missing on Thursday, May 9, and his decomposing body was discovered in his house in the Gikumene flyover area on Sunday, May 12.
His colleagues have described him as a dedicated man and a pillar of his community, making his sudden demise a significant loss to them.
The discovery of his body was made by a Sunday school teacher who went to his house in search of him and noticed a foul smell emanating from the premises. Concerned, she immediately notified the local authorities, prompting an investigation into the circumstances of his death.
“She knew something was wrong and therefore went to the nearest police post. Police officers arrived and broke them down and we saw our friend in a bad state,” one of the church leaders remarks.
Fellow church leaders have reported that Pastor Moses was found in a devastating state, and it is suspected that perpetrators of this cruel act made away with his laptop, iPad, and mobile phone before locking him inside the house.
His body has been transported to the local mortuary pending a postmortem examination as investigations into his death commence. Church leaders are urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the case and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
“We appeal to the police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate this matter because we would like to know what happened and why,” one of the leader stated.
