After the Hawks’ victory, Sparks’ Obilo admits, “We didn’t play well.”

The Equity Bank Hawks secured a 46-38 victory against the Zetech University Sparks in a highly anticipated match in the Kenya Basketball Federation League women’s category.

The game, hosted at the United States International University, witnessed a tight contest as the bankers initially trailed 16-12 in the first quarter. However, they swiftly turned the tables with a dominant performance, outscoring their opponents 14-6 in the second quarter.

The Hawks continued their momentum, securing the third quarter 12-9 and the fourth 9-7. Despite their efforts, the Sparks couldn’t regain control of the game.

Maurice Obilo, the coach of the Zetech University Sparks, acknowledged their shortcomings, stating, “We didn’t play well. I was also trying out some of my (fringe) players in readiness for the playoffs.”

Jemimmah Knight was instrumental for the Equity Bank Hawks, contributing 22 points, while Valery Kemunto added 10. For the Zetech University Sparks, Maureen Kemunto and Ashley Minayo each scored 11 points.

In other league matches, the University of Nairobi Dynamites suffered a 35-27 defeat against the Africa Nazarene University Panthers.

Equity Bank Dumas displayed dominance with an 83-43 victory over Absa 83.

Umoja faced a 59-65 loss against the visiting Eldonets Platinum. In the lower division matches, Strathmore University Swords emerged victorious with a 73-58 win over Kisumu Lady Bucks, while Strathmore University defeated Kisumu Lakeside 69-56.

Stanbic Aces secured a 60-43 win against Kisumu Lady Bucks, while JKUAT Straycats narrowly defeated Zetech University 55-50. Snipers claimed a 58-49 victory over Shoot 4 Life, and Moi Air Base (MAB) edged out Coastal Kings with a score of 51-48.
