Kenyan radio presenter Alex Mwakideu has added his voice to the growing chorus of public figures responding to Ciggie Johnson’s DNA test drama, urging the club host to block out the internet noise and focus on the bond he has built with the girl he raised for 12 years.
Ciggie Johnson, whose real name is Ciggie Okebiro, became the subject of a nationwide conversation after an emotional video he shared from inside his car went viral on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
Why was Ciggie Johnson trending over a DNA test?
In the clip, he was heard on a phone call with the girl’s mother discussing DNA results that excluded him as her biological father.
Visibly frustrated, he pushed back against the clinical language she used, asking her to speak plainly rather than hide behind medical terminology when breaking the news to their daughter.
Ciggie had been part of the girl’s life from birth, covering school fees, rent, and birthday celebrations over the 12 years he believed he was her father.
What advice did Mwakideu offer Ciggie?
In a video shared on his social media, Mwakideu spoke directly to Ciggie, making clear where he stood on the matter.
“Ciggie Johnson, my brother, don’t listen to them. This is a one-on-one between me and you. I am a father of a 12-year-old daughter. Listen, bro, you have created a 12-year relationship with this girl. Nothing can take that away. That is special. You had been a dad to this girl; she calls you dad, and you called her daughter.
“Bro, the mistakes of adults cannot be pinned on children. This is my honest opinion. I know I’m married and I live with my wife and kids, but even if I was to do a DNA test today, I can tell you for free, nothing can change how I feel about my daughters.
“The issues you have are between you and the girl’s mother, but between you and the girl… You have to man up, my brother. Don’t listen to them,”
Mwakideu said. Mwakideu was not the only public figure to speak up.
