The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a licence revalidation exercise for all tow truck owners and motor vehicle dealers, both new and second-hand, as part of efforts to enhance compliance with the law. In a notice published in local dailies, NTSA’s Director General stated that the exercise will commence on Monday, November 11, and conclude on Friday, November 22.

All operators are required to complete and submit an online form available on the NTSA website before Wednesday, November 6. To ensure transparency, NTSA will conduct physical inspections of operators’ premises to verify the information submitted through the online forms.

“The accuracy of the information provided will be of utmost importance to avoid any inconveniences,” the notice emphasized.

This revalidation is in line with Section 24 of the Traffic Act Cap 403, which grants NTSA the mandate to regulate motor vehicle and motorcycle dealers. The exercise aims to boost adherence to traffic laws and regulations.

Last month, NTSA suspended 121 Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) for violating traffic laws. As a result, buses from the affected saccos were impounded, and the public was cautioned against boarding them. The suspended saccos included Kinatwa Prestige Limited, Overseas Courier Resort Limited, Pelican Sacco Limited, Crown Bus Limited, Periska Transport Sacco Ltd, Quickbus Tablet Ltd, and Prestige Comfort Co. Ltd, among others.

“Members of the public are hereby advised not to board vehicles belonging to the suspended saccos/companies. The Traffic Department has been advised to impound any vehicles from the 121 saccos found operating contrary to the suspension,” the notice added.
