American rapper Snoop Dogg will be among the carriers of the Olympic flame this Friday as it completes its final rounds before the Paris Games’ opening ceremony.
He will carry the flame through the streets of Saint-Denis, a diverse northern Paris suburb that houses the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre, according to the town’s mayor, Mathieu Hanotin.
Other torchbearers in Saint-Denis on Friday will include French actress Laetitia Casta, French rapper MC Solaar, and retired Ukrainian pole-vaulter Sergey Bubka. The Olympic flame has been traversing France for the past two months.
On Friday morning, it will pass through the athletes’ village, which spans Saint-Denis and neighboring Saint-Ouen, before reaching the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre a few kilometers away.
Snoop Dogg, 52, hails from the greater Los Angeles area, which will host the next Olympic Games in 2028. In addition to participating in the torch relay, Snoop Dogg will also serve as an Olympic commentator for US television station NBC during the 2024 Games.
