“November 10, 2025, is the day you died, my blood sister, but today, October 1st is the day you have rested in peace (rip), siz. The inquest has come to a closure,” he wrote.
“Cause of death has been proven medically. Am now at peace to all her fans; let’s allow her soul to rest. Asanteni.”
Bayo’s death and the family’s fight for answers
Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, known to her fans as Bayo, died on 10 November 2025 at Kenyatta National Hospital. Her passing sent shockwaves through Kenya’s gospel music community, and early reports pointed to leukaemia or blood cancer complications as possible causes.
However, her family was far from satisfied with how events unfolded. Through their legal representatives, Omenke Andeje and Company Advocates, Betty’s mother Joyce Wairimu Mbugua, formally petitioned the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Inspector-General of Police on 9 December 2025.
According to the petition, Betty had no known history of chronic or underlying illness, yet initial reports had linked her death to a serious blood condition.
The family also claimed they were denied access to her medical records and treatment details, and that no postmortem or autopsy report was ever shared with them.
Adding to their anguish, they alleged that her burial on 20 November 2025 was conducted in haste, raising further suspicion about a possible cover-up.
DPP orders fresh probe
Following the petition, the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered fresh investigations and directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to look into the circumstances surrounding Betty’s death. The inquest that followed ran for nearly a year before arriving at its conclusion.
Ng’esh’s post appears to signal that the family has now accepted the medical findings and is ready to move on. His message to Betty’s fans was simple: allow her soul to rest.
Bayo built a devoted following through her gospel music and remained a prominent figure in Kenya’s Christian entertainment scene until her passing. She was 40 years old.
