Goliath Wa Bungoma, real name Isaac Otesa, was publicly called out by his former boss Patrick Riang’a during a TikTok live session.
The former Car Soko sales boss confronted Goliath over his persistent online appeals for money despite having a job.
Why did Riang’a call out Otesa?
Patrick did not hold back during the broadcast, making clear he was frustrated by what he described as a pattern of online begging from someone who was both employed and had been given a roof over his head.
”Every time I pass by online, you are there begging. It’s not a good habit. How many times, Patrick?”
Patrick went further, pointing out that he had gone out of his way to secure Goliath a position at Car Soko, yet the appeals for financial help had continued regardless.
“You are always begging online, yet I left you with a job,” he stated bluntly during the session.
He also addressed a specific claim Goliath had made to his online audience, alleging that their electricity had been disconnected. Patrick flatly denied this.
”When people are told our power has been cut off, don’t lie that we’ve been disconnected. And today is the first; there is no day we have ever had power disconnected on the first of the month.”
His parting message to Goliath was direct:
”Every time I check online, you are begging. Stop embarrassing the company.”
Goliath attracted a significant following on social media largely because of his towering height, drawing comparisons to Bradley Marongo, popularly known as Gen Z Goliath.
After a difficult period trying to find his footing in Nairobi, he received backing from well-wishers, with Patrick Riang’a playing a key role in connecting him with employment at Car Soko and arranging stable housing. He later moved on to work at Sirlikot Motors.
During the live session, Goliath pushed back against Patrick’s accusations before reportedly cutting his former boss off mid-conversation, a move that only added fuel to the debate unfolding in the comments sections across Kenyan social media.
Reports following the confrontation suggested the two were working towards settling their differences privately, with Patrick said to have stressed the importance of Goliath budgeting his salary responsibly so it carries him through each month.
