The chief of Miamabani location in Kitui County is nursing arrow injuries after he was attacked by a man whose homestead he raided over allegations of peddling marijuana, commonly known as bhang.
Muthoka Kilonzo went to Simon Nziu’s homestead on Tuesday evening accompanied by the area assistant chief after receiving a tip from residents that Nziu had been selling drugs to youth in the Kayongo area.
The administrators seized about 50 kilograms of marijuana from Nziu, after which he escaped and came back wielding a bow and arrows, shooting the chief in the arm and leg.
“He came back with his brother carrying a bow, arrows and machete,” Kilonzo said, adding that he was treated at a nearby medical facility and discharged.
A manhunt is underway for the man said to be in his 30s.
