German police detained a U.S. man on Thursday who was suspected of stalking Taylor Swift and making threats against her and her partner on social media. The 34-year-old man, who had a ticket to Swift’s concert in Gelsenkirchen, was apprehended at the venue’s entry control point before the concert on Wednesday.
Authorities had identified and detained him after initial investigations raised concerns about his potential threat.
The man had drawn attention by issuing threats online against Swift and her partner, Taylor Kelce. However, police confirmed that neither Swift nor the concertgoers were ever in immediate danger.
A court has ordered the man to be held until Saturday. The concert, part of Swift’s Eras Tour, was one of three planned in Gelsenkirchen and drew 60,000 fans, known as Swifties, who enjoyed the event in enthusiastic celebration and costumes.
