Residents of Kakdhimu West Location in Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County have decried the lack of electricity in the last two months.

Locals said the blackout has slowed down operations and paralyzed essential medical services at Alum Health Center.

Led by Albert Magai, the residents said they can no longer access medical services at the facilities due to a lack of power.

“We are forced to seek laboratory, vaccine storage and maternity services in far-flung areas,” a resident said.

Vaccination of children under the age of five has also been affected, with mothers and caregivers turned away due to lack of power for preserving the vaccines.

They are now calling on the government to address the matter in order to restore normalcy in the area.
