Tumi Mathenge, daughter of veteran Kenyan musicians Nameless and Wahu, and Homeboyz Radio presenter Jakes Nyanjom have left fans with more questions than answers after a playful on-air exchange about their relationship status.
Tumi stopped by the Homeboyz Radio studios to visit Jakes, and co-host Chunkz wasted no time seizing the moment.
He pressed the two on whether they are actually a couple, pointing out that he regularly sees them online looking very much like one.
Are Jakes Nyanjom and Tumi dating?
Neither was willing to give a straight answer. Tumi responded to Chunkz’s probing with a coy:
“We are doing well, that is true, or what do you think?”
Jakes echoed the same vagueness, turning the question back on his co-host:
“We are doing well, or what do you think? When you see us online, what do you think?”
Chunkz acknowledged that the pair do appear affectionate online and have even been spotted holding hands, but noted he had never seen them kiss.
He challenged them to settle the debate right there in the studio. Jakes shut that idea down quickly, comparing it to watching your parents kiss, and insisted nothing romantic had happened between them.
“Maybe just playing FIFA together. I teach her,” he said.
Tumi backed him up, confirming they spend time playing games, watching movies, and cooking at his place. She also took a moment to praise Jakes as a genuinely good cook.
When Chunkz pushed one more time for clarity, Jakes laughed it off, saying:
“We are doing well together, or what does that statement mean? I have just brought the lovely lady over to the studio.”

Why fans are convinced Jakes and Tumi are dating
The speculation around Tumi and Jakes carries extra weight given their backgrounds. Jakes is the son of veteran media personality Joyce Gituro, making this a pairing of two well-known Kenyan entertainment households.
Both families have leaned into the public curiosity, turning it into content of their own. Nameless has previously appeared in humorous “vetting” videos, playfully grilling Jakes on whether he is good enough for his daughter.
Gituro, for her part, has warmly embraced the dynamic, joking about the two families becoming one. Earlier, Tumi gifted Jakes a customised Manchester United jersey for his birthday, complete with the cheeky message:
“I Love My Girlfriend” on the back.
She even documented the shopping trip online, joking about her limited football knowledge while hunting for the right kit.
Whether they are officially together or simply the most convincing “just friends” duo in Kenyan entertainment, Tumi and Jakes are clearly in no rush to clear things up.
