Joe Khalende, chairperson of the UDA founders, dismissed former Secretary General Cleophas Malala’s claims of being unlawfully removed from office as baseless. Khalende vowed to press forward with efforts to expel Malala from the party, describing his claims as “preposterous.”
Khalende announced that the Founding Members Association will soon file a disciplinary action against Malala with the Party’s Internal Dispute Resolution Committee (IDRM). This action seeks Malala’s immediate expulsion and other remedial measures.
“We will apply to the Party IDRM to join in the petition Malala has filed,” Khalende stated.
He criticized Malala’s recent statements as outrageous and advised him to accept his removal. Khalende also warned Malala against using party stationery and logos for media statements and cautioned staff against engaging in any transactions with him.
Khalende emphasized that the changes within the party were made in full adherence to the Party Constitution. He reassured members that under interim Secretary General Hassan Omar, the party remains on solid footing. The ongoing issues, including staff audits, procurement reviews, grassroots elections, and the implementation of President Ruto’s Bottom Up Economic Agenda (BETA), are progressing as planned.
