Kenya Airways confirmed the safety of all passengers aboard flight KQ 670 after the plane experienced a bird strike while landing at Kisumu International Airport.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:36 PM on Thursday. In a statement released by the corporate communications office that evening, KQ detailed that the bird strike temporarily immobilized the aircraft on the runway.

“The aircraft landed safely in Kisumu, however, it was not able to exit the runway fully as the bird strike affected the aircraft steering components,” the statement read.

“All passengers and crew onboard since disembarked the aircraft and are safe,” it added.

The airline stated that they are collaborating with relevant authorities to remove the aircraft and resume normal operations. Additionally, they mentioned that passengers on affected flights will receive updated travel information and necessary assistance.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and assure our passengers of their safety and comfort as our highest priority,” the airline said.
