Popular comedian and MC Jessy has sparked conversation online after appearing on the Tubonge Show podcast, where he shared candid views on relationships, personal growth, and what he believes women should stop doing with men.
In the studio-recorded interview, Jesse spoke directly to women, arguing that choosing to grow alongside a man is a risky move.
His view is that men, once they develop, often move on rather than carry the woman who supported their journey.
“Stop this nonsense of growing with the man,” Jesse said on the show.
“Because this man, and you bear me witness, you grow with them, they will grow and leave you behind.”
His advice to women was straightforward: focus on your own development rather than tying your progress to a man’s trajectory.
MC Jessy’s take on men in their 20s
Jessy then shifted focus to young men, urging them to get their finances and foundations in order before thinking about building a life with someone.
He framed personal capacity as a financial concept, telling young men that their 20s should be spent making money and building independence.
To drive his point home, he walked through a hypothetical scenario involving a 26-year-old man and his 24-year-old partner. Fast-forward 20 years, he said, and the couple would be 46 and 44 respectively.
In his estimation, the age gap narrows in a way that shifts the dynamic entirely, and he encouraged the man in his example to reconsider his options rather than rush into building a life too early.
“As a man, in your 20s, put your house in order,” Jesse said.
“Put your ducks in a row.”
When asked how he managed his own life during that period, Jesse acknowledged he was speaking from personal experience, saying he had been through the situations he was describing.
Jessy’s advice goes viral
The clip, which aired on the Tubonge Show was recorded in a professional studio setting with RØDE microphones and a red-curtained backdrop. The vertical video format and bold animated captions helped push the content across social media platforms, where it quickly picked up traction.
Jesse is widely recognised in Kenya as both a comedian and event MC, making his opinions on relationships and life advice a natural draw for audiences who follow his work.
