Benjamin Mendy has made a return to football by signing a deal with French Ligue 1 side, FC Lorient.

The news was announced by a market transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday.

The deal is coming days after Mendy was cleared of rape and attempted rape by the Jury at Chester Crown Court in the UK.

According to Romano, Mendy signed until June 2025 as new Lorient left back.

He wrote, “Benjamin Mendy makes his return to football by signing as new Ligue1 side Lorient player, done deal.

“Mendy signs until June 2025 as new Lorient left back after he was found not guilty by Chester Crown Court.”

Mendy played his last game for English Premier League side, Manchester City on August 2021 following his rape case.

However, the French international full-back became a free man but without a club after his Manchester City contract expired at the end of June.
