Meta Platforms (META.O) announced on Monday the introduction of AI Studio, a new tool enabling users to create, share, and design personalized AI chatbots. AI Studio will allow users to develop customized AI characters, and Instagram creators can use these AI characters to manage common DM questions and story replies as extensions of themselves.

Users will be able to share their AI characters across Meta’s various platforms. The tool is built using Meta’s Llama 3.1, the latest and largest version of its predominantly free AI models, which were released last week. Llama 3.1 supports multiple languages and boasts performance metrics that rival paid models from competitors like OpenAI.

Meanwhile, OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, is working on a project code-named “Strawberry.” Details of this project are closely guarded even within OpenAI as the company strives to demonstrate the advanced reasoning capabilities of its models, Reuters reported earlier in July.
