Detectives in Kapsabet town in Nandi county have arrested a man suspected to have murdered his wife in cold blood on Valentine’s Day.
The suspect, Zackaria Ng’asura, 65, was arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers at his Kiprambu village, Chepkumia location in Nandi Central on Monday evening.
It is said that the late Cherono,53, a mother of six, had been sleeping with her daughter and three grandchildren in the kitchen as the husband slept in the sitting room in the main house, before the incident.
“The suspect was picked this evening ( Monday) while at his home in Kiprambu village for thorough investigations as other leads will enable us to get to know why such an incident had to happen. We will let you know full information while we are done,” a detective who sought anonymity noted.
More than two weeks later, the deceased is yet to be buried and has had her burial postponed severally by the suspect, which has puzzled relatives and villagers.
An autopsy indicated that Rose was stabbed with a blunt object which penetrated her ribs and pierced her heart, two inches deep.
