Comedian and media personality Oga Obinna has gone public with a legal demand letter sent to Geoffrey Mosiria, claiming the content creator made a string of defamatory statements about him on social media and now owes him KSh 10 million in damages.
The letter dated September 17, accuses Mosiria of making repeated statements on his TikTok account and other platforms that were damaging to Obinna’s name and professional standing.
Among the statements cited in the letter, Mosiria was quoted as having said:
“My brother Obinna as a brother I think you need to seek Jesus in your life, you need to go to church repent your sins and ask God to keep you away from trouble especially you have associated yourself with two musicians who are celebrities and what followed is unfortunate.”
What Oga Obinna’s lawyers are demanding
The demand letter lays out a detailed list of things Mosiria must do immediately.
He is required to retract all the statements, delete every related video from his TikTok account and any other platform under his control, and publish a public apology in newspapers with wide circulation in Kenya.
The apology, according to the letter, must reach the same audience as the original posts and explicitly confirm that claims linking Obinna to accidents, deaths, suicides, addiction, humiliation and the destruction of the careers of people who appeared on his programmes were entirely false.
Beyond the apology, Mosiria is also expected to admit liability for reputational damage, emotional distress and embarrassment caused to Obinna, and to pay KSh 10 million in compensation.
The letter made clear that failure to comply within seven days would result in court proceedings being filed without any further notice.
Obinna shared the letter on his social media pages on Saturday, September 27, after the seven-day window had already closed. In his caption, he was direct about his intentions, writing:
“Ni Ushugu sanaaaa!! Nayo nayo. Hata staki mingi just 10M. Siku Saba zili-isha, we proceed. Wengi wenu hamjui Defamation ni nini, na how Lucrative it can be ukishika tu mmoja wao. Wacha niwashow.”
His post made it clear he had no intention of letting the matter rest.
