Police are investigating an incident where a 22-year-old patient admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital died after jumping off the building’s 7th floor.

Police who visited the scene said they were alerted by security personnel who heard a thud on the ground floor. At the time, other patients were fast asleep. The deceased is yet to be identified.

The incident comes barely a week after a Nairobi man died after falling from the 12th floor of a building near the USIU university in Kasarani area, Nairobi county.

In the incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, the unidentified man is said to have committed suicide. His body was discovered by neighbours who called the police.

Police who arrived at the scene found his fractured body lying in a supine position in the parking area. They moved his body to a nearby morgue pending an autopsy as investigations begin.

Separate incident

In a separate incident, a 32-year-old man is nursing serious injuries after his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend pushed him off a balcony following a confrontation.

Police who have since launched a manhunt for the suspect said the victim identified as Salim Latiff was attacked by the suspect when he was at her girlfriend’s house.

He fell on a church roof of the adjacent building sustaining injuries. He was rushed to Mama Lucy hospital where he was treated and discharged.

“Lattif reported that while in the house at Kaloleni estate’s fourth floor with his girlfriend Gladys Mueni, he was confronted by Paul Omugah who is the former boyfriend of Gladys. A fight ensued and Lattif was pushed from the balcony of the house’s first floor to an iron sheet-constructed church adjacent to the building,” the police statement reads in parts.
