Police officers from Mandera County have recovered at least 700 rolls of cannabis sativa and three kilograms of unprocessed cannabis in the Mandera crackdown.
The police in a statement on X on Monday, November 10, 2025, confirmed that the officers who were based in Mandera North Sub-County recovered the items during a patrol at a crime scene in the Shantoley area.
At the time, another item recovered was an unregistered motorcycle, which had an owner who fled the scene.
“Today, 10th November 2025, officers from the National Police Service based in Mandera North Sub-County recovered 700 rolls of cannabis sativa, three kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, and an unregistered motorcycle, among other items, while investigating a crime scene in the Shantoley area,” NPS noted.
Police further confirmed that the exhibits have been secured as evidence, while the officers are on the search for the key person of interest who remains at large.
“The exhibits have been secured as evidence. Officers are searching for the suspect, who remains at large, with a view to apprehending him so he can face justice,” NPS said.
On the other hand, the police, while reiterating their steadfast commitment to protecting and serving the public, have appealed for the public’s continued support by reporting any suspicious activities to their nearest police station.

Migori crackdown
The Mandera crackdown came after Police officers from Awendo Police Station have nabbed 3 people linked to illicit brew in the Bongu and Ulunda areas of Awendo Township, Migori County.
In a statement by the National Police Service on Monday, November 10, 2025, the police noted that the multi-led operation was conducted on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
At the time of the operation, the police were able to arrest three key persons of interest, two women and one man, and recovered at least 15 liters of Chang’aa.
“Yesterday, 9th November 2025, police officers from Awendo Police Station conducted an intelligence-led operation against illegal brews in the Bongu and Ulunda areas of Awendo Township. During the operation, the officers arrested three suspects and recovered 15 liters of Chang’aa,” NPS said.
On the other hand, the National Police revealed that the police were able to locate and destroy approximately 400 liters of Kangara.
Meanwhile, the three key persons of interest were placed in custody awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
