A police officer who shot and killed a 33-year-old man in his home in Mukurwe Ini, Nyeri County, after a confrontation at a bar eight years ago has been sentenced to seven years in jail.
This is after the court found the officer, Chibungu Sanga, guilty of manslaughter earlier this month.
The deceased, Kingori Kanyi’s family had however hoped to get a murder conviction against the cop.
Justice Martin Muya however ruled that a 7-year sentence is fair having considered all factors in the case.
