Police save robber from jaws of irate mob

A middle-aged man was on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, rescued by police on patrol after he was cornered and subjected to mob justice in the Makongeni area of Makadara, Nairobi county.

The suspect identified as David Ogolla jumped inside a lorry that was carrying valuables to the industrial area with an intention of stealing.

He pushed the conductor who was on top of the moving lorry before going ahead with his intention

The suspect was cornered by the public while trying to escape and was subjected to mob injustice.

The Nairobi Regional Police commander Adamson Bungei confirmed the incident saying the conductor suffered a fracture on his left arm, with bruises on the back and his both feet.

“Abdi Issack Mohammed who was the conductor of the Mitsubishi lorry that was carrying the languages to the industrial area was pushed from the moving lorry by the assailant identified as David Ogolla. He sustained a fracture on the left arm, bruises on the back and both feet,” he stated.

The victim and the assailant were both rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital where they are currently admitted in fair condition.

This comes a few days after a middle-aged man succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital after he was rescued from a mob in Kayole.

The unidentified man was reported to have stolen a metal grill and three spades all worth Ksh8,000 after breaking into the store of a house under construction.

The owner of the house raised the alarm and he was caught by a group of angry members of the public who subjected him to a mob injustice.

A crew from Twiga Security who were on patrol in the area responded to the scene and found the victim writhing in pain with multiple injuries.
