President William Ruto’s tour of the US continues into its third day today, featuring significant engagements in Washington DC.

Ruto concluded his productive leg in Atlanta on Tuesday, securing a notable achievement with Coca-Cola’s commitment of a Sh23 billion investment in Kenya.

Today’s agenda kicks off with an official arrival ceremony at Andrews Air Force Base at 10:00 am (5 pm Kenyan time). The President will then pay tribute to fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery, one of the US National Cemetery System’s two maintained cemeteries.

Following this solemn ceremony, President Ruto will engage with members of Congress to discuss key bilateral issues, aiming to strengthen US-Kenya relations. In the afternoon, he will participate in a tech round table at the White House, focusing on Kenya’s leadership in the African tech sector and its attractiveness for digital investment.

On Thursday, President Ruto, accompanied by First Lady Mama Rachel, is scheduled for a White House meeting with President Joe Biden.

The day will conclude with a state dinner, a significant event for fostering diplomacy, where official guests and notable celebrities mingle. This marks the first state visit by a Kenyan head of state in two decades and the first by an African head of state since 2008.
