Robbers raided the offices of the ACK Nyahururu diocese, located at the Christ the King Pro-Cathedral in Nyahururu town, and made off with a safe. The incident occurred on Sunday night, just a day after Bishop Samson Gachathi successfully led the installation of the new diocesan management team.
Two watchmen who were guarding the offices were severely injured in the attack and are currently receiving treatment at Nyahururu County Hospital. The gang, which caused extensive damage by breaking down doors—including those of the Bishop’s office—appeared to be searching for money collected through offerings during the Sunday service.
It is suspected that the robbery may have been an inside job, as the thieves appeared to know the location of the CCTV servers and the safe. The robbers also vandalized the CCTV system, making it difficult to gather evidence of their actions.
George Obure, one of the pastors at the Pro-Cathedral, was informed early the next morning by a tenant living in the compound that the gates were locked and they couldn’t leave. Upon arriving at the scene, he discovered the robbery and immediately alerted the police.
