The National Assembly announces the locations for public involvement in the impeachment of Gachagua.

Following the motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the Clerk of the National Assembly has announced public hearings for Kenyans to share their views on the impeachment. The hearings will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, across all 47 counties from 8 AM to 5 PM, as mandated by Article 118 (1) (b) of the Constitution.

In the announcement published in Wednesday’s dailies, the Clerk invited the public to make oral or written submissions regarding the special motion. Here are the designated venues for each region:

Coast Region
– Mombasa County: Tononoka Social Hall
– Kwale County: Kwale Cultural Centre
– Kilifi County: Coast Development Authority Hall
– Tana River County: County Hall, Hola
– Lamu County: KCB Hall
– Taita-Taveta County: Mwatate CDF Hall

North-Eastern Region
– Garissa County: Government Guest House
– Wajir County: ICT Hall, Wajir Town
– Mandera County: Mandera Social Hall
– Marsabit County: Catholic Hall, Marsabit
– Isiolo County: Catholic Diocese Hall, Isiolo

Eastern Region
– Meru County: Kamende Hall
– Tharaka-Nithi County: Katwana County Hall
– Embu County: IFAD Hall
– Kitui County: Kitui Multi-Purpose Hall
– Machakos County: Machakos Social Hall
– Makueni County: Wote GreenPark Gardens

Central Region
– Nyandarua County: Nyandarua CDF Hall, Ol Kalou
– Nyeri County: Nyeri Cultural Hall
– Kirinyaga County: CDF Hall, Kirinyaga Central
– Murang’a County: Murang’a University of Technology Hall
– Kiambu County: Kiambu Social Hall

Rift Valley Region
– Turkana County: Turkana University
– West-Pokot County: Mteelo County Hall, Kapenguria
– Samburu County: Maralal Vocational Centre
– Trans-Nzoia County: Kitale Museum
– Uasin Gishu County: County Hall
– Elgeyo-Marakwet County: KMTC Iten
– Nandi County: Eliud Kipchoge Complex
– Baringo County: Baringo Rehab Centre
– Laikipia County: NGCDF Hall, Nanyuki
– Nakuru County: Kenya Red Cross Hall
– Narok County: Narok Youth Empowerment Centre
– Kajiado County: Maasai Technical Institute Hall
– Kericho County: ACK Church Hall, Kericho
– Bomet County: St Bakhita Youth Training Hall

Western Region
– Kakamega County: Magharibi Hall
– Vihiga County: Praise Centre Church Mbale
– Bungoma County: Red Cross Hall, Kanduyi
– Busia County: Busia Social Hall

Kenyans are encouraged to attend the hearings and share their views on the impeachment motion.
In the Nyanza region, public participation regarding the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will take place at the following locations:

– Homa Bay County: Homa Bay Stadium
– Migori County: Migori TTC

Additionally, those in Nairobi can attend the public hearings at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

Gachagua is facing 11 grounds for impeachment, which include:

1. Inflammatory and inciteful utterances
2. Undermining national unity
3. Contradicting the president on critical matters
4. Public attacks on judges
5. Gross violation of the constitution
6. Abusive and insulting language
7. Amassing questionable wealth of Sh5.2 billion
8. Insubordination
9. Undermining the president
10. Bullying KEMS officials
11. Failing integrity tests

Kenyans are encouraged to participate and express their views on these serious allegations during the scheduled hearings.
