Residents in parts of Migori on Monday morning kicked off protests ahead of the Azimio la Umoja nationwide anti-government demos.

The Migori-Isbania road is impassable as protesters have barricaded it with stones.

In videos obtained by Citizen Digital, the protesters chanted songs in Dholuo dialect.

“We do not want to see policemen here,” said one of the protesters.

Transport and businesses have been paralyzed in the area, with the police keeping a watch at the unfolding of events.

The grand march is expected to happen in Nairobi’s capital as Azimio leaders Raila Odinga, Martha Karua and other top brass allies are set to lead protesters in voicing their demands.
