Residents of Vihiga County are expressing growing concern over a surge in crime, particularly a wave of attacks by motorbike-riding gangs. The Security Committee chairperson, Ellam Malenge, emphasized that areas like Majengo, Chavakali, and Luanda have been among the hardest hit, with locals urging authorities to ramp up security measures.
Malenge highlighted that the gang members are mostly teenagers, some under the age of 18, and have left a trail of victims with life-threatening injuries. The victims have shared disturbing accounts of the attacks, which have shaken the community.
In response to the escalating threats, the county’s security team has appealed to residents for assistance, urging them to volunteer any information that might aid the ongoing investigations. This call comes as the region grapples with a sense of fear and helplessness in the face of rising violence.
