Bryant Moreland — known online as EDP445 — has never been arrested or charged with a criminal offence, despite being caught in a vigilante sting operation in April 2021 in which he believed he was arranging to meet a 13-year-old girl. The EDP445 case resurfaced sharply in August 2026 after the release of The Sick Mind of EDP445, a YouTube documentary by filmmaker Mike Clum, which prompted the Kern County District Attorney’s Office to re-examine what happened.
Who is EDP445?
Bryant Turhan Emmerson Moreland, better known online as EDP445 — short for EatDatPussy445 — was born on 15 December 1990. He built his following on YouTube through Philadelphia Eagles commentary, freestyle raps and shock-value humour, growing his channel past a million subscribers by early 2020.
EDP uploaded videos consisting of rants, vlogs, cooking, reviews and gaming. At his peak, he had more than two million YouTube subscribers and also appeared on Tosh.0.
The collapse of his career
His online career collapsed when he became the target of allegations from multiple young women who said he had contacted them inappropriately online. Those allegations set the stage for a far more serious confrontation in 2021.
The 2021 sting operation
The allegations escalated in April 2021, when the vigilante group Predator Poachers, led by Alex Rosen and Chet Goldstein, released footage of a confrontation in Bakersfield, California.
In 2021, another YouTuber posed as a 13-year-old girl online and set up a meeting with Moreland at the Pineridge Apartment Complex in east Bakersfield. The documentary also shows screenshots of explicit messages and photos, which the film identifies as material sent by Moreland to the decoy.
Was EDP445 actually arrested?
Moreland was briefly detained by police for questioning but was never formally charged. Because the incident was filmed and circulated online, many people assumed that EDP445 had been arrested. Available reporting does not establish that he was prosecuted or imprisoned. There is no reliable public record showing that Moreland was convicted.
Why was he never prosecuted?
That outcome has been attributed largely to the legal grey area surrounding vigilante sting evidence, which prosecutors often find difficult to use. According to Chris Hansen’s own comments in the 2026 documentary, the way the sting was carried out by Predator Poachers — specifically the decoy account messaging Moreland first — created legal problems that made the case very difficult to prosecute under the law.

The Sick Mind of EDP445: the documentary
On 9 August 2026, Mike Clum released The Sick Mind of EDP445 on YouTube. It follows Bryant Moreland following his cancellation after being caught in two separate vigilante online sting operations — where he was allegedly trying to meet underage girls.
The film includes an interview with To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen and focuses in part on how Hansen’s show inspired a wave of YouTube sting operations, including the 2021 Bakersfield operation involving Moreland.
The documentary generated significant attention, with its YouTube version surpassing 4.7 million views.
Moreland’s admission to Chris Hansen
During the documentary’s centrepiece interview, Moreland made a direct confession on camera.

During their conversation, Moreland acknowledges having sent explicit images to a 13-year-old and having arranged to meet her with the intention of having sex — though these admissions were not made in a legal proceeding and have never been tested in court. Despite that acknowledgement, Moreland tells Hansen in the documentary that he does not believe he belongs in prison.
Proceeds and intent
The documentary was produced by Mike Clum and restricted on YouTube. All proceeds from the film benefit RAINN, a nonprofit supporting survivors of sexual violence.
Clum says he made the film partly for people who are attracted to minors, to prevent them from acting on those impulses — arguing this is the most important population watching the film.
The Kern County DA case
The DA’s office reopens the EDP445 case
A new documentary about former internet personality Bryant Moreland, once known online as EDP445, has prompted the Kern County District Attorney’s Office to re-examine a Bakersfield sting operation from April 2021 in which Moreland believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl.
According to local news, “the district attorney’s office said it is now reviewing the case again,” but “the sheriff’s office said it is not currently investigating unless new information emerges.”
Clum had called the Kern County DA’s office and asked if they would comment on the documentary — they declined. “I think a lot of people would have liked to know the perspective of why EDP was not prosecuted,” said Clum.
Why didn’t the original case proceed?
The EDP445 case ran into problems rooted in how independent sting operations are handled legally. The following factors were cited across reporting:
- The decoy account messaged Moreland first, which created an entrapment-adjacent legal problem for prosecutors.
- The sting was run by independent content creators, not law enforcement, meaning evidence gathering did not follow standard criminal procedure.
- Hansen drew a wider distinction between his own broadcast-era investigations, which typically fed directly into police sting operations and criminal charges, and the current wave of independent “predator catching” content built for social media clout.

EDP445’s girlfriend
The documentary, dropped on YouTube on 9 August 2026, formally introduces Bryant’s 42-year-old girlfriend Marissa to the public, shifting the lens toward his current relationship and revealing some candid intimacy frustrations.
She appears around the one-hour-eleven-minute mark. By this point in the documentary, the focus shifts away from the allegations and toward the relationship Bryant says has become part of his life. Bryant speaks warmly about Marissa during her introduction.
Beyond her first name and age, EDP445’s girlfriend Marissa has not shared further personal details publicly.
