A 23-year-old woman was yesterday charged with trafficking narcotic drugs within the premises of Thika law courts in Kiambu County.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo, Martha Muthoni Muhindi begged the court to forgive her, but she was remanded to Thika main prison for two weeks as the court awaits a narcotic report from the government chemist.
According to the charge sheet seen by Citizen Digital, Muthoni was caught with 20 rolls of cannabis valued at Ksh.2000 that she was selling to suspects who were brought to Thika law courts from different cells and prisons on September 7.
She was then charged with the offence of trafficking narcotic drugs contrary to section 4(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act No. 4 of 2022.
Chief Magistrate Atambo was surprised when the accused person addressed the court asking for forgiveness.
“Unaomba msamaha, unakuja kuuza bangi kortini!” She paused as the suspect lowered her head in shame.
Muthoni will be brought back to the same court on October 9 for sentencing.
